He Texted Her Daughter While Her Body Was Missing | The Murder of Ebony Duncan

While Ebony Duncan’s family searched for her, the man responsible for her disappearance was texting her daughter.
Ebony was a 44-year-old Missouri mother of three who vanished after getting into a car with her former boyfriend, Charles Smith-Howell. Weeks later, her remains were found in a wooded area in Kansas City.
In July 2026, a jury convicted Smith-Howell of second-degree murder and multiple related charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
A mother is gone. Three children lost the woman who raised them. And the man who sent chilling messages while they searched has now been convicted in her death.
